The 2018 vintage was in mid April, being a very late time of year to harvest our Sauvignon Blanc grapes.  The growing season experienced average to mild winter rainfall and temperatures.  The summer was very mild with many cloud covered days and drizzly rain.  This made the ripening process very slow.  Birds were their usual hungry selves, however being such a late season the bush was full of blossom and the bird had plenty of food so didn't bother our grapes.  There was no need to net the white grapes, so this saved us much work! The fruit was clean, ripe and well balanced.  Harvesting was a challenging time once again, with constant drizzle and cool temperatures. We successfully harvested the last of the white grapes before the heavy rain started.  The vines cropped and average of 4.0 tonne per hectare of fruit.

The Sauvignon Blanc was harvested to achieve maximum fruit complexity and flavour. The fruit was de-stemmed, basket pressed, then cold fermented at 15 ºC in stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks. The wine was not wooded and bottled early with stelvin closures to preserve the vibrant fruit flavours.


Colour Very pale straw with a youthful green tinge.
Nose A vibrant cool climate Sauvignon Blanc, displaying gooseberry and lemon aromas.
Palate The aromatics follow on to the delicate palate of passionfruit and guava with lovely balance and a crisp finish.
Cuisine Asian dishes; seafood and salads.
Serving Temperature 11-13 ºC
