The 2010 vintage was 4 weeks earlier than any previous year. The winter was cold and wet as usual, but the spring was dry and warmer. The warm, dry spring continued into the summer months, which resulted in an early bud burst and our earliest vintage. In fact we completed this year’s vintage, before the commencement of last year’s harvest. The Shiraz was easily managed under these conditions, was disease free and required few sprays. The fruit was ripe by late April, with very full and rich flavours.


Wine maker: James Kellie.

Immediately after harvesting, the fruit was crushed and fermented rapidly over 8 days at 26 ºC. At 8 baume the brandy spirit was added to stop the ferment and retain the residual sugars. The wine was racked every 3 to 4 months and matured in new French Oak for 24 months.


Colour Inky deep red with purple hues.
Nose Lifted intense aromas of blackberry, anise, plums and violets.
Palate Luscious flavours of dense blackberry, licorice, mocha and allspice. The brandy spirit adds warmth and highlights a lingering coffee liquor finish.
Cuisine Cheese, coffee and chocolates.
